Why Colocation?

Colocation is where you physically move (colocate) your servers and other IT equipment into a data centre - a purpose-built facility designed to keep your hardware running smoothly, 24/7/365.

The benefits of choosing to house your IT infrastructure in a data centre rather than in an on-premises server room are many. Here are just a few:

It's more reliable

Data centres have extra resilience built-in to ensure we never have a problem with power, cooling or network connectivity. 4D boasts 99.999% uptime and we have never had a power outage.

It's more cost-effective

The economy of scale means we can power, cool and connect your infrastructure to superfast networks more cost-effectively than you could in your on-prem server room.

It's more flexible

When your organisation grows, you don’t need to worry about whether you have the capacity to add more servers. Scale up, out, or even back as your needs change.

It’s better connected

Data centres provide carrier-neutral internet, guaranteeing speed and flexibility. You can also interconnect to other data centres or connected directly to your office with a leased line.

It's always accessible

Our data centres are accessible and staffed 24/7/365 so you can access your servers whenever you need. Or take advantage of our Remote Hands service, and save yourself a trip.

Gatwick

Our newest data centre – purpose built, powerful, and with sustainability at its core. Easy access to M23, Gatwick Airport, London, Brighton and more.

London

Purpose-built data centre and Internet Exchange Point in the heart of the Docklands.

Kent

Situated in Maidstone, this Tier-3 data centre offers good access to the M25, Kent and East London.

Surrey

The original 'gold standard' 4D data centre. Highly energy efficient, super resilient, and situated just outside the M25 for easy access across Surrey and into London.

With increasing data regulation, it’s critical to know where your data is being stored at all times.

When you partner with 4D, you get the peace of mind that comes with knowing exactly where your hardware is – and that you can get to it anytime, 24/7/365

Located across Southeast England, our data centres are built, managed and owned by experts with a broad range of experience in the colocation business. So, whether you choose our Surrey, Gatwick, Kent or London facilities, you will always get the same high level of support.

Infrastructure that improves the resilience, security and reliability of your IT while supporting your digital transformation journey.

Host your IT systems in one of our data centres where we'll take care of all your power, cooling and connectivity needs, so that you can focus on what you do best.

Why partner 4D?

We've built our reputation on helping companies like yours leave behind legacy infrastructure and helping them fast track their digital transformation strategies.

why-1

Going above and beyond

We stake our reputation on operating people-focused data centres, staffed by teams who will do whatever they can to support you. Our Microsoft and Cisco certified engineers are on-call day and night in our Surrey and Sussex bases.

why-2

Security is our top priority

With security staff on-site 24/7/365, as well as CCTV, gated access, locked racks and other security measures, we maintain top levels of physical security across our data centres. We’re also ISO 27001:2013 certified and PCI:DSS security compliant

why-3

We're proud of our reliability

99.999% network uptime reliability and zero power outages since opening in 2007 - that's an impressive record of operational reliability. Our UPS, generators, and geographically diverse network connections, ensure your IT is always on.

why-4

We're as green as they come

Sustainability is important – so we’ve built some of the greenest data centres in the UK. Equipped with evaporative cooling systems and cutting-edge immersion cooling technology, our data centres achieve an impressively low PUE of 1.14.

Have a High Performance
Computing (HPC) requirement?

We can do that too.

We offer HPC racks with up to 63Amps (3 phase) 45 kW maximum power draw in extra-wide 800mm x 1200mm racks. We can also provide you with a choice of energy-efficient cooling options.

Both our rear-door cooled and immersion-cooled racks are sustainable and cost-effective. Immersion cooling has a capacity of up to 200kW of heat dispersion, so no matter how dense your HPC is, we can host it for you.
