Following their award win at the DCS Awards, 4D are delighted to have been announced winners of the ‘Data Centre Design & Build - Project of the Year’ category at the Electrical Review Excellence Awards.
The awards recognise outstanding achievements within the technology industry, with a host of key players involved in the nominations, including Schneider Electric, DigiPlex and Virtus. In addition to the above win, 4D were also shortlisted for ‘Colocation Supplier of the Year’.
The winning project was the design and build of a new adiabatic cooling tower, commissioned by Aqua Cooling Solutions at 4D’s Gatwick data centre. This makes a major statement of intent in reducing 4D’s carbon footprint, providing an annual energy saving which could rise to over 90% and an annualised part load PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of 1.125.
Attending the awards ceremony, Operations Director of 4D, Steve Wright, said: “We’re extremely proud to be awarded for this project and be recognised for our efforts to reduce our environmental impact. It was a big challenge to have the installation completed with minimal impact to our Gatwick data centre, but zero downtime was achieved thanks to our team and Aqua Cooling Solutions’ diligent planning.”
The cooling tower reduces the number of moving parts within the design, increasing the system reliability, while also being completely scalable to cope with increasing demand. For more information about how the cooling technology works, check out our previous blog post.
