Last week we again unlocked the doors of our secure Gatwick data centre for its open day.
We welcomed a mix of organisations, all eager to see our award-winning data centre.
Since opening in late 2017, the site has won a number of 'greentech' awards, including best ‘Energy Efficiency Project of the Year’ at the industry renowned Data Centre Awards (DCS).
The awards have been largely down to 4D’s investment in an eco-friendly cooling tower design, installed at the Gatwick data centre site last year. The new ‘water tower’ system uses evaporative cooling to lower the temperature of the computers in the data centre. The annual energy saving compared to the old system is forecast at an impressive 90%+, with an annualised part load Power Usage Effectiveness of 1.125.
As well as seeing the cooling tower in action, attendees were keen to discuss cyber security and the best ways of protecting their data. Our CEO, Jack Bedell-Pearce, spoke at length on 4D’s latest cyber offerings, including Managed Firewalls, Threat Monitoring and DDoS Protection.
