United Response

"The Technical Director, David Barker, is very impressive. He’s switched on and very helpful"

Principal activity
United Response is a national charity covering England and Wales that helps people with learning disabilities, mental health needs or physical disabilities.
Why colocation?
United Response is a distributed organisation, with only 5% of its staff located in its central headquarters. Reliable communications are therefore essential for the effective day-to-day running of the charity. Use of a colocation data centre provides resilience that would be prohibitively expensive in-house, with infrastructure, cooling, power, connectivity and security all provided.
The 4D Data Centres experience
IT Director, Vince Gratrick, says “Having our essential IT kit in 4D’s data centre removes one headache that I don’t have to think about. The resilience provided by 4D is very important. For example, a week before we moved out of our old HQ, we had a flood that put our Comms Room out of action. Because our servers for our email and intranet were in a data centre, these essential services were not affected”. Vince is also very positive about the technical support and advice provided by 4D. He has been particularly impressed by David Barker, 4D’s Technical Director, who he describes as being "switched on and very helpful".
