Why colocation?
BDI used to run its servers and connectivity in-house but growing concerns about connection speeds and the need to provide clients with reassurance about 24/7 uptime and security made the migration to a colocation data centre the obvious next step. BDI chose 4D because of our location and the impression the site visit gave of “a very professional, slick set-up”.
The 4D Data Centres experience
Bruce Ure says that the initial setup of BDI’s kit at 4D’s data centre in Surrey was trouble free. Having 24 hours access was good and the technical support staff were friendly and straightforward. “One of them even provided us with a USB cable and we weren’t charged for it.” Since then, there have been no problems and BDI has had 100% uptime. Bruce welcomes the policy of proactive communications in the form of advance emails when regular maintenance is scheduled, even though this has always been done without disruption of service. This gives him confidence about the quality of our operation.
